Making of The Day

This is how it was planned and executed:
20-05-08
We had decided about a month ago when Kaumadi Ma'am informed us of Sameer sir's bday, "we have to celebrate it in a big and extremely unexpected way". We started burning our brain stoves since then for the perfect idea.
PLAN A:
Make something by ourselves to gift him.
IDEA 1: Let's make a clay model
FLOP : In an attempt to trick Sir to give us some ideas on clay modeling he informed us, with our process it will melt down in this heat.
IDEA 2 : We decide on various options with our expert Bhairav. Robot with candy sticks, Geometrical shapes with paper dough, house with एम्सीइ, big umbrella stand etc etc.
FLOP: Each voted out because of lesser majority approving.
IDEA 3: A lamp shade with the help of balloon, etc etc.
APPROVED !!!

EXECUTION OF THE PLAN
We roam throughout the IIT Campus trying to find raw materials. We find the mid rod from one of junkyard.
Similarly the base wood from another, the rest from stationary shop and our homes. We leave with the promise to do a big amount of hard work the next day.

21-05-08
We meet up at Sandip T' house and start our day of creation.

Step 1:Blow the balloon to the required size.
Step 2:Cut butter papers to wrap around the balloon.
Step 3:Wrap butter paper around the balloon
Step 4:Clean and polish the rod.
(Poof!! The heat is killing us. Hope it dries pasted papers. Stinking like hell we pause for the day.)

22-05-08
(Its all in today's date. The whole magic. Whatever has to be done has to be done today. Yesterdays work is all dry and strong.)

Step 5: Color the the thread to be wound around the balloon portion to give it a look and more strength.
(Mission accomplished with flying colors)
Step 6:Leave the thread to dry, later glue onto the balloon part and keep to dry.
Step 7: Painting and Electrical
The wooden base is applied primer later to be painted with silver. The welding, drilling, cutting is done to place the bulb.
Step 8: Paste the color paper in a fashion to give it a desired final look.
Everything is put together and kept aside to dry off properly and weld together.

FINAL OUTPUT
:The gift is all set now lets go behind the arrangements to give Sir the big surprise.
We have decided to wish him right at 12 in the night. -the studio team.

All of meet in front of Sameer Sir's building. Seeing light in his room we shift towards the side of the building to avoid the situation of him peeping out by any chance.
Everybody signs the greeting card
Done!! Everybody is happy with the proceedings
FINAL OUTPUT 2 Lets prepare the cake
Light the candles!!! Everything was done before going upstairs to avoid any sounds.
FINAL OUTPUT 3So finally we are ready with everything. Lets go !! Sir was surprised, shocked. We have been successful in what we had planned for. There was only one thing that didn't go as we planned. We would have loved to wake him from his sleep. :(
But I think these expressions were definately what we had wished for.
On receiving the gifts " Happy Birthday to you . . . . . "" . . . to dear Sameer Sir . . . "The party is on and everyone's enjoying hogging the cake and the 'chewda' provided by sir.The whole gang of the night bash with Sir before leaving him with some clean ups to be done:)
If Sir thought that was it, that was all we had planned for him. He was wrong. There was definitely a PLAN B.

Celebration at KReSIT:
All said and done good. We have been invited for a treat to our very own Bhavani juice center.
To have our 'मेहनत के मीटे फ़ल' :D

A successful fruitful making of The Day - Sir's Birthday

Dear Seeja, and the rest of the team!

Thank you for everything..!It was not only great...but a systematic execution of an idea. What I liked the most was the gift..it was not the routine 'Archies' item bought with everyone contributing money. This too was done with contributions from everyone..but it has in the form of a creation!...and I'll cherish it forever! Thank you all again.
