love VS LOVE

One of these past days I heard from one of my friends on how her love relationship turned out. She was tricked into a situation where she almost lost the most important thing for an Indian women. What I heard from her has left me confused on what love is all about. As they say, what "true" love actually is?
The first couple I saw as a kid, Anil Kapoor and Sreedevi, so perfect, I used to dream of them together. Love for me was so filmy then. Soon got a reality check. They were married to other individuals.
In school days, I saw some friends fall in love. Fall in love again every new year.
The era of romance, the college days. Pairs celebrating Valentine's day, talks of future, hands in hand. The roses, the songs, the movies, and the coffee shops. The perfect Sharukhs and Kajols. But there were these news flashes every now and then of boys throwing acid on the face of girl friends, just for the reason of not obeying them or accepting them. Suicide attempts, notes for the same.
The present: People being killed by lovers, killed for lover. Rapes, murder, husband-wife torture, divorces, the list goes on and on. Going through the flash back, I see not even a single dozen of couples who had fallen in love and are still in love with the same person. That is not even a single positive incident per year of my life.

The result is quite obvious, then why am I confused . . .

My parents, who got married 25 years ago, under the category of arranged marriages. In all years of my life, I have seen them shout, argue and fight eachother. Also seen them miss the other like teenage lovers when not around. Seen them support eachother through mistakes and hard times. I have realized through them, the existence of something, . . . maybe true love.
I guess it is like those legal acts in our constitutions. We know they are there in the books but don't know the use and purpose until it comes on to us.
I think I will have to wait and find out till I find my true love.
